David Ashbridge, British, graduated from Lancaster University as a music major in 1985 with a bachelors degree and from Brunel University in 2004 with an MPhil. in music composition. Worked as a teacher for many years in both London and Cambridge and internationally as a musician, most particularly in Brazil where he has made many recordings and TV broadcasts.  For the annual Rio International Cello Encounter, he has written 3 concertos, 6 chamber works and over 50 cello octet arrangements and original works.  In recognition of his work in Brazil David was made a Freeman of Cabo Frio, Rio de Janiero in 2005.  He has worked on many music publishing projects for among others, the BBC, Saga Music and The Frank Bridge Trust.  He started teaching in Hangzhou No.2 High School in September 2015 as a music teacher and orchestral conductor and taught elective courses including music composition. David finds the students of No. 2 High School are highly dedicated and inspired to work to high standards. They are a pleasure to work with particularly when making music. In his spare time David is helping compile a new tour guide to Hangzhou.
